The Asian Draughts Championship 2026 was successfully held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, bringing together players, coaches, arbiters, officials, and distinguished guests from across Asia.
This year’s championship was one of the most intensive events in the history of the Asian Draughts Confederation. The program included 126 tournaments across 7 draughts disciplines and 18 age categories, with the participation of 328 players from 13 member federations.
The championship demonstrated the strong development of draughts in Asia, especially among young players, and confirmed Uzbekistan’s growing role as one of the leading draughts countries on the continent. The excellent organization, hospitality, and active support from the Uzbek side contributed greatly to the success of the event.
A special highlight of the championship was the official visit of Mr. Janek Mäggi, President of the World Draughts Federation (FMJD), to Tashkent. During his visit, Mr. Mäggi met with representatives of the Uzbek sports authorities together with ADC officials. The meetings focused on the further development of draughts in Uzbekistan and Asia, strengthening cooperation between FMJD, ADC, and national federations, and exploring future opportunities for draughts in major multi-sport and mind-sport events.
In addition, Tashkent hosted a successful FMJD Asian Pre-Summit, with representatives from 10 Asian member federations participating. The pre-summit provided an important platform for discussion on the future development of draughts in Asia, continental cooperation, event strategy, youth development, and the role of Asian federations within the wider FMJD family.
The Asian Draughts Confederation expresses its sincere gratitude to the Uzbekistan Draughts Federation, the organizing committee, the Ministry and sports authorities of Uzbekistan, arbiters, volunteers, coaches, players, and all participating member federations for their contribution to the successful organization of the championship and related official meetings.
The championship in Tashkent once again showed that draughts in Asia has strong potential, active national federations, talented young players, and a growing international presence.
The Asian Draughts Confederation congratulates all winners and participants and looks forward to continuing this positive momentum in the next continental events.
